How I beat 2 million competitors with this simple Backlink Tool

March 29th, 2010 Emlyn No comments

Hi, Emlyn here.

Thanks for visiting and hope you’ve enjoyed my prior posts.  Well the most important one is now here.  It’s time to examine how we can get the best quality links as simply and quickly as possible.

With that in mind it is key to give a full uncensored review of TextLinks.com, an inbound links service.  No fluff, no filler – Just what you want and NEED to know about a Backlink Tool like TextLinks before you consider using.

Note: In addition to the general description of Backlink Tools, this is a review of the main product I use, TextLinks.com.  If you want to visit the official TextLinks.com site click here.

So what is a backlink tool?

A backlink analyzer tool comes in two main forms:

  • backlink checker tool – we’ve already looked at backlink checker tools below which help us learn everything we can about the nature and quality of inbound links.
  • Backlink builder tool – these come in many different forms but all aim to build more links to your website that lead to more traffic and high rankings on search engines like Google, Yahoo and other popular search engines. In this post we’re going to focus on backlink builder tools.

Types of backlink builder tools?

As I mentioned before there are tons of different types of backlink tools, each claiming to ensure you’ll get huge traffic and optimal SEO ranking through various methods of providing inbound links.  Unfortunately few really help give you real page rank backlinks.  Most backlink builder tools get you to enter your keywords into the Backlink Tool and it gives you a list of sites where you can post articles, messages, postings, or simply a backlink to your site (there are even reciprocal link checkers).  These are usually free listing sites that are after your content and in return permit you to place an inbound link to your site.  After you have the list of potential backlink partners, it is up to you to visit each of the sites and post your content with the inbound link to your site in it.  While this is helpful it requires enormous work and time to make it effective.  It means you having to write article after article just to get a simple backlink.  I know…and honestly it hasn’t helped my SEO to any noticable degree.

So is there a better way to easily increase your SEO page rank?  Thankfully, I think there is.  But before I get into that I wanted to give you this little warning as it is so important.

Warning about backlink tools

Many backlink tools promise the world and deliver you a whole lot of trouble.  What i mean is that they can actually massively damage your page rank because they tell you they are going to provide backlinks on quality sites and in fact they link you to spam sites or sites that host some kind of illegal content, purchase links in bulk, link farms, etc.  This could cost your SEO and hence your business dearly.

How can you identify sites that do this?  Check forums obviously for feedback as you don’t want to find out after you’ve already seen your page rank dive.  But for me I usually work on the theory that you get what you pay for.  If your expect high quality links for nothing then your probably setting yourself up to get rather disappointed!

An alternative – Backlinking to Blogs

Backlinks from blogs is one of the best forms of backlinks.  Why?  Well because blogs can be massively popular, are niche specific (so can be targeted to your niche) and blogs are updated on Google much more quickly than normal sites because their content changes rapidly.  Now you can just go out and start contacting bloggers and asking for links to your site, but I suspect you’ll not have much success.  Thankfully a backlink Builder Tool can do this in a much more effective and quicker way.  The one I use is TextLinks.com

Textlinks make a bold claim right from the start.  Their motto reads “Revolutionary new way to create quality, relevant backlinks to your website”.  I was sure skeptical, but you can join for free with no restrictions for 21 days and crucially you don’t have to give any payment information.  So I joined and had a good look around to see if their claim was all hot air.  I must say I was pretty impressed with what they’ve managed to achieve.  They have over 10,000 blogs indexed which you can individually search and put a short tailored description and link to the blogs of your choice. Also, they give you 25 free lifetime backlinks just for signing up to their free 21 day trail.

Click here to go to the official TextLinks.com site.

So here’s how the TextLinks.com model works.  It is a simple three step process:

Step 1 – You sign up and either use your free link credits and/or buy more.

Step 2 – Set up Target Page which is simply your keyword (or phrase) and your website link

Step 3 – Choose from one (or more) of the four backlink options.  These are:

  • Contextual backlinks – This is where textlinks.com really rises above their competitors.  A contextual link is a link within existing texts on blog posts. Extremely powerful!
  • Sidebar backlinks – these inbound links will be placed in the right hand column. They are highly visible and heavily clicked.  And most of the time they are  ’site wide’, meaning, they will be displayed on every page of the website.
  • Footer backlinks – these inbound links will appear at the bottom of each blog post selected. They are also popular as a source of backlink for SEO but are not as effective as a source of traffic as contextual links or sidebar links.
  • Blog Post backlinks -  This feature allows you to write your own article or blog posts, which can be posted to one or more of over 10,000 in the TextLinks.com database.  You can include up to three different text links and be of a minimum 100 words.

The bad points

Obviously, TextLinks.com is not perfect.  Here’s what I didn’t like about the service:

  • My main gripe is their monthly charge (once the free trial is over).  I know they need to pay the blog owners and no-one is in business to be a charity.  And while I know the service is definitely worth it I would’ve preferred to only be charged for backlinks I buy rather than a minimum monthly amount to continue to use the service.
  • Links that you place on a blog’s front page cost 3 times as much as sub-pages.  Again I can understand why as they will get many more eyeballs but I’m not sure the price difference is warranted.

The good points

  • Most importantly: It works and is incredibly simple and quick to implement.   It doesn’t matter what your experience level is, if you implement the system you WILL get quality (trusted, relevant & popular) inbound links.
  • It is free to join for 21 days
  • You get 25 permanent inbound links just for joining
  • They don’t ask for any payment details for the free trial
  • They have a database of over 10,000 fully categorized blogs (many of whom are on Google’s front page) for you to search and chose from
  • All inbound links (free and bought) are permanent, even if you cease your membership
  • Finally, the ability to place four types of backlinks is great, especially the contextual links where your link gets written into the actual blog.

And to lighten the mood…

Of course SEO optimisation and the textlink.com backlink tool are serious subjects.  But you know what they say about all work and no play, so I created this lighthearted 30 second video as a bit of a break.  Enjoy :)

Back to the serious stuff…Conclusion

And so we come to the end of my backlink builder tool post including my TextLinks.com review.  Overall, this is one of the most impressive and complete backlink builder tools you will find anywhere.

When you look past the flashy sales page and video what you essentially have is an amazing, unique, simple yet powerful backlink tool that’s a sure win for any person trying to improve their page rank via inbound links, no matter what you’re experience is.  It is completely different from the traditional backlink tool that is simply a database where you then have to do everything.  To paraphrase TextLinks.com motto it really is a “Revolutionary new way to create quality, relevant backlinks to your website”.

An Introduction To Backlink Tools As A Way To Get Good Backlinks

March 29th, 2010 Emlyn No comments

Hi Emlyn here.

You only need to type buy Backlink Tool into Google and you’ll be inundated by sites selling backlink services to you.  Where to start?  Again I like to keep things simple, so I generally break it into a simple two step process:

Step 1 – Analysis – Know where you and your competitors are.

Step 2 – Solution – Apply the appropriate backlink tool to solve the problem identified in step 1.

Analysis – Check Backlinks

I think one of the best ways to analyse how you’re doing is to look at the number and quality of the backlinks that you currently have and those of your competitors.  One of the best places to do this is Link Diagnostics.  It’s completely free and I’ve popped a link for you over on the right in the Blogroll.  Here’s a short helpful video I found that describes the value of backlinks and Link Diagnostics in particular.

Note the importance of the quality of the backlinks.  How relevant are they? What is the linking sites’ page rank?  You should also do this analysis on your competitor’s sites.  Also of crucial importance is Google Webmaster Tools (click here to link to Webmaster Tools), which is offered by Google.  In it you can get some amazing information about your site. You just need to login and add a small link to your homepage to verify your site and vola, you’re ready for some great information.  The dashboard gives you the following information links:

  • Top Search Queries
  • Crawl Errors
  • Links to Your Site
  • Sitemaps

And each link has extra links for more detailed information.  Here’s a great video for a quick rundown on Google Webmaster Tools:

Now analysis is great, but analysis is only helpful if you learn from it and make changes.  There are a number of outcomes you can find from your analysis.  The most likely are that the quality, number or the relevance of your backlinks are badly lacking.  Which basically means you need more high quality relevant sites linking to you.  How?  Well you can do it the manual way and identify relevant sites and contact their webmasters directly and ask for them to link to you.  Obviously this is not likely to be very successful for plenty of obvious reasons.

Solution – Backlink Tool

As with most things on the net, when there’s a problem someone is devising a solution.  And backlinking to optimise your SEO is no exception.  Unfortunately knowing who to trust is a big issue.  The starting point is obviously looking at only backlink tool providers that can give us a solution that meets our three backlink requirements.  This is not a numbers game but a quality game.  One of the best backlink tool models I know of is to place links on blogs that are massively popular and are relevant to your particular site niche.  Not only do these types of links meet our criteria of being from sources that are trusted, relevant and popular but they also bring you extra traffic.  Double wammy!  There are a number of backlink tool providers who specialise in bringing people needing backlinks with blog writers willing to sell backlinks.  One I use is Textlinks who I plan to write about in my next post.

What Are The Three Key Elements of Good Backlinks And Can a Backlink Tool Give You Them?

March 28th, 2010 Emlyn No comments

Hi, Emlyn here again,

We discovered below that the amount of links is not what is important to getting a good page rank.  In fact it can have the exact opposite effect with Google penalising those that haphazardly seek to add hundreds of links.

We also discovered that what we need for a good SEO ranking is backlinks that are:

  1. Trusted
  2. Relevant
  3. Popular

But what does this mean exactly?  Glad you asked. ;)

Trusted Backlinks

This is by far the hardest of the three to define, but let’s give it a shot.  Trusted backlinks are links that come to your site from what Google perceive as authority sites. These are sites that have many incoming links from other related expert/hub sites, and thus Google search engine deems them to be authorative in it’s chosen field of subject matter.

Relevant Backlinks

Relevant backlinks are links to your site that come from sites that Google assess are similar in content to your site.  You see Google scans your site and tries to determine your keyword(s).  It looks at the main mentioned word and all the surrounding text that it perceives are associated to that word.  Sites that are focused (expert) tend to have content that are all closely related.  It does it on every site.  So when it looks at your site and looks at the sites that have links to yours it compares the “relevance” of the two sites.  If they’re not covering related topics you will not receive credits and may even be penalised.

Popular Backlinks

We all like to be popular…and Google ratings are no different.  I’m sure you’ve heard of Pagerank.  Well Google puts much more weight on links that come to your site from sites that are more popular. i.e. have a higher page rank.

Conclusion

So there you have it…if you want to maximise the benefit of a backlink it needs to be trusted, relevant and popular.  So how do we get these?  Again, glad you asked.  ;-) Getting these sort of links can take years, tons of time and huge amounts of money…but there are quicker ways thank goodness.  There are banklink tools that’ll speed this process up immensely and can be relatively inexpensive, but they need to give you links that meet the three criteria I’ve mentioned.  But be warned…almost all don’t!  And they try to gauge their success by the number of backlinks they give you.  Please don’t fall for this.  A backlink tool must give you backlinks that are trusted, relevant and popular.

We’ll look at what sort of resources and methods are available to get these sort of backlinks in my next post.

Will A Backlink Tool Give You Good Backlinks And What Are They?

March 28th, 2010 Emlyn No comments

Hi, I’m Emlyn, and thanks for visiting my site.

Now if your here wanting to better understand backlinks and how to get a site higher ranked, then you’ve come to the right place.  Backlink Tools and backlink checkers are everywhere promising the world and rarely delivering.

I’m sure you’ve heard how crucial backlinks are to the likes of Google.  But what is less well known is that it is not a numbers game.  Not at all.  You can have literally hundreds and hundreds of backlinks and Google will virtually ignore them…in fact it might even penalize you as some sort of spammer trying to buck the system.  It’s a bit like waving a neon light saying, “Come penalise me cause I’m SEO spamming!”  Not what we want at all.  In fact, the exact reverse of what you’re after!  So there you are after a page rank of 1 and all your hard work gets you on page 10 or worse…you’re sandboxed!  And we all know that if you’re not on the first page then you might as well not be listed at all.

SEO experts tell you that it’s becoming more of an art than a science to get a high page rank.  Well I don’t know about that…I would say that experience is always helpful, but often people mistake experience for simply repeating mistakes for longer (I can personally attest to that!).  I also know that if someone follows a few simple rules the effect is significant.  And these rules are simple and easy to learn and implement.

My SEO is now pretty refined and I’m usually on the first page within a week of setting up a site for my target keyword(s) and in the top 5 with three weeks.  And these are not obscure keywords that people never type into Google.  That would be pointless.  No the keywords I target are heavily researched by internet users and get many thousands of visitors a month.

So if getting loads of backlinks is not the aim then what is?  Well getting links with three key attributes:

  1. Trusted
  2. Relevant
  3. Popular

So I hope you’ll take a few minutes to journey through some SEO and backlink tool chat.  We’ll explore these three attributes next.
